Today in class we were given a page from a book eg. Mister Tom, The boy in the striped Pyjamas...... etc.
When we got it we had to cross out a whole bunch of words and with the words remaining we had to make a poem. We could change the order of the words so it makes sense. I got page71 from 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.' Here is my poem... Lieutenant Kotler marched as if he owned the place. The young lieutenants black boots were polished to sparkle. His yellow blonde hair was parted, perfectly. So was his uniform. Perfectly groomed as always. Briana These are all things we have been learning about in class. We use them to write poetry but also to read them closely in an effort to better understand them.
Mrs V got us to write about either poetry or a loud noise.
I chose a loud noise . We had to write 3 lines. And then you had to make you poem down to 15 words My final product was: A loud noise is... Music blasting from speakers Fireworks exploding Eren Yeager yelling , screaming at the MP for humanity Welcome fellow poets!
For a term our class, 9LCH, will be exploring the truth about poetry. So sit back and enjoy! Our first impressions to poetry were BLAGGHH! so we listed down our BLAGGHH thoughts: * can't do it * boring * work * old * plain * traditional * no story behind it * just words that rhyme * all about the same thing * limericks When we discussed poetry as a class, we thought that there were many rules that would make this term of poetry soooo boring that we would want to pull out our hair. But we learned that those rules didn't matter, poetry can have slang, swag, hip, and emotion. It could consist of different lyrics all the way from A$AP ROCKY to Sam Smith. Poetry is like a condensed short story where all the crap is removed. To some, poetry is being emotionally free. Aimee |
